George and Martina Gates arrived one day late thanks to Air France which gave us another day in Ajaccio. Ajaccio is the biggest city in Corsica and not very attractive but the Tino Rossi harbor was remarkably good for several reasons: first, we were alongside a dock!!!! - only the second time this year. That means no passarelle to navigate to get on the boat and balance provisions over it. Second, they had a supermarket that delivers to the boat! That means our bilge is now full with sparkling water and various spirits. Third, they had a laundry right opposite our dock, facilitating the crew change. So once in a while it’s nice to have practical rather than quaint!
From Ajaccio to Bonifacio at the southern tip of Corsica, there are very few harbors. So we’re at anchor today and mostly will be in the days to come. Late in the afternoon a standard sized motorboat arrived and anchored right next to us. Out came the toys although no jet skis - very considerate. However, the disco started at midnight, complete with blue underwater lights and adequate sound to make sleep difficult. Fortunately, they were not going to 4 am, which seems to be the normal cutoff point in the harbors.
