It’s getting repetitive but another great sailing day was had yesterday in a 10-20kn Easterly. Rieke and my father much appreciated the fine sail given that it was their last day. Mahon harbor is 2 mile long fjord and we got to sail in all the way to our berth at the Club Maritimo. I had sent them an email in the morning to inquire about availability and not received an answer back initially. I thought nothing of it since many of the harbors just don’t respond on email. But when we got closer and into cell phone contact again I found a “yes” answer in my email and two voice mail messages assuring me that they had a berth. Wow! That club is interested in renting out their moorings! Well, it turned out the club manager was a 25 year old from the State of Washington! US entrepreneurship at work!
Our berth is right on the main drag here. It's a nice little town and we're one of only a handful of sail boats here. Mostly motoryachts in miniature size, i.e. less than 25m. During the day, it's noisy with the road going right by our berth. The main jogging trail also seems to go by here as well so one can exercise vicariously. All good. The real exercise comes in if you want to go shopping. The town seems to be 500m up a very steep road. So to get that fresh bread in the morning requires some spirited pedaling on the bike!
Today is the first of a many crew changes. Rieke and Father are departing and Kalle and Jutta are arriving. We three Esdorns had a great 3 weeks together like the old days just a bit more comfortable. We are a bit sad that our mother could not come since we had to put here into a home for demented people just a few weeks ago.
Crew change means wash day - predictably, there is no laundry here in this place that will wash bedding and towels on a Saturday. But Laundry Kincsem is open and going full bore. No problem - all got done. Nicki will be happy I’m getting all that practice
